Hi, I AM Katie. For over three decades I have been exploring my journey beyond the falsehood of normalcy and into the flow of consciousness.

From a young age, I was deeply engaged with my senses and emotions. A few near-death experiences (NDE’s) catalyzed an awakening that reconnected me to Spirit and my clairvoyant abilities with tremendous clarity. I wrote two books to share what I learned.

My personal journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth has been both academic and through my lived experience. My neurodiverse nature doesn’t subscribe to the script, allowing me to move fluidly through many walks of life, including the constructed class system and all the ideologies attached to it.

From picking out granite countertops and assessing the mountain views, to living in shelters, standing up to the system, family estrangement, falling in love with dark triad personalities, and bunkering in my vehicle—I understand. I explored working with the sacraments of plant medicines like kambo, psilocybin, and ayahuasca. I was fortunate to travel to the Kuntanawa Territory in Acre, Brazil, where I sought refuge, healing, and guidance in early 2020, allowing a deep reconnection to nature, the cosmos, and my truest Self.

My centering as a healer is grounded in Transpersonal Psychology. The interconnectivity of psychology and spirituality honors moving beyond the personal ego and into a broader human experience. I currently study Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University in Boulder, CO.

People experience and engage with the world in various ways. There is no “normal" way of thinking, learning, and behaving. My focus is on spaciousness and empathy for clients, and helping them advocate, educate, and create new pathways.

Trauma-bonding

Exploring the chemical and emotional dynamics that occur in abusive intimate relationships

Trauma-bonding is a psychological phenomenon that goes beyond emotional attachment—it triggers a chemical reaction in the body, releasing intense amounts of the stress hormone cortisol, followed by dopamine and oxytocin. This creates a "speedball" effect, where the victim experiences intense highs and lows that become a pattern. Cortisol floods the body in response to the stress and fear caused by the abuse, and then the dopamine and oxytocin kick in when moments of affection or kindness are introduced, reinforcing the bond through the neural pathways. This combination of hormones creates an addictive cycle, making it harder for the victim to break free. It’s important to clarify that trauma-bonding does not refer to bonding over shared childhood trauma or experiences. Instead, it refers to the unsafe and unhealthy bond that the victim is unconsciously forming with the abuser, one that harms them and keeps them trapped in a cycle of abuse. This cycle—known as the cycle of abuse—repeats itself as the victim experiences ongoing traumatization, feeling both connected to and hurt by the abuser, reinforcing the toxic attachment. This was once described as 'co-dependency,' but I distinguish it as a distinct perpetrator-victim dynamic, where coercion, rather than consent, plays a critical role.

The abuser often employs tactics such as love bombing, breadcrumbing, and intermittent abuse like negging to establish this bond. Love bombing involves overwhelming the victim with excessive affection and attention in the beginning, creating a deceptive standard of connection. Sometimes people mistake the “butterflies” or “nervous” feeling in the beginning as “chemistry,” but it is often the alarm bell sounding when a familiar unsafe pattern has been detected. Breadcrumbing, on the other hand, refers to giving just enough attention or validation to keep the victim hooked, but never fully satisfying their emotional needs, or returning to the initial display of affection. Intermittent abuse—alternating between kindness and cruelty—keeps the victim constantly unsure of what to expect and heightens their emotional dependence. These manipulative behaviors serve to groom the victim, making them more susceptible to the abuser’s control. This pattern causes significant confusion in the nervous system, as the victim’s body and mind struggle to reconcile the emotional highs and lows, along with the inconsistency of safety and trust. The nervous system picks up on the incongruence, creating a chronic state of stress and confusion, undermined and exploited by the abuser.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation where someone distorts or denies reality to make another person question their perceptions, memory, or sanity. The manipulator may deny events, twist facts, or make the victim feel as though they are overreacting, even when their feelings are valid. Negging is a form of emotional abuse where someone gives a backhanded compliment or subtle insult to undermine the confidence or self-esteem of another person, typically in a romantic or dating context. The goal of negging is to make the target feel insecure, thereby making them seek validation from the person doing the negging. These tactics are framed as compliments but actually serve to belittle the other person, causing them to doubt themselves and seek approval or reassurance from the abuser.

This combination of emotional manipulation and physiological responses makes it incredibly difficult for the victim to break free, as they are psychologically and chemically conditioned to stay attached to the abuser. The constant cycle of abuse, intermittent reinforcement, and emotional manipulation traps the victim in a state of confusion and dependency, preventing them from recognizing the harm and ultimately escaping the toxic relationship. The cycle is actually a spiral, in which the negative consequences get worse each time. If any of these descriptions sound familiar, let’s talk it through. I understand this journey.

The word psychedelic, derived from the Greek words ψυχή psychḗ 'soul, mind' and δηλείν dēleín 'to manifest', literally translates as 'mind manifesting' or 'soul revealing' (Osmond, 1957). The implication being that psychedelics can develop unused potentials of the human mind.

Psychedelic integration guidance is a specialized support system that helps individuals process and make sense of non-dual experiences. It's not about therapy for the trip itself, but about bridging the gap between the insights gained during the experience and integrating them into daily life to anchor spiritual growth and wellbeing. Psychedelic integration guidance can be a powerful tool for unlocking the transformative potential of your psychedelic experience. We guide you in unraveling the symbolic aspects of your trip, translating insights into tangible meaning and practical action.

Spiritual awakenings—whether sparked by psychedelics, major life transitions, or profound inner shifts—can be destabilizing, often leading to what some call a spiritual emergency. When the framework of reality dissolves too quickly, it can feel disorienting and misunderstood, especially within systems that lack language for these experiences. Trauma-Informed Approach

Trauma-informed care is often marketed as a catch-all term, yet it is not a regulated concept and can sometimes feel placating to survivors. The true depth of trauma’s effects requires personal, lived experience to truly understand, and that’s what I bring to this work. The impact of trauma is nuanced, and I am intimately familiar with its journey.

How I define trauma-informed care:

Awareness: Understanding the prevalence and impact of trauma.

Safety: Ensuring clients feel both physically and psychologically safe.

Response: Avoiding re-traumatization by offering client-centered language, building trust, enhancing collaboration, and promoting recovery through shared lived experiences.

Acknowledging Systemic Trauma: I acknowledge, from lived experience, that our current systems often cause trauma rather than prevent it. This collective oppression is a source of ongoing trauma for many individuals.

Empowerment, Voice, and Choice: Fostering a belief that each person is central to their healing and recovery process.

Health Implications of Trauma According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), trauma includes experiences that are physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening, leaving lasting adverse effects on an individual’s functioning and well-being. The effects of trauma extend beyond the emotional realm, often manifesting physically as well. Health implications can include autoimmune diseases, substance use disorders, heart, lung, and liver disease, and depression.

The Social Context of Trauma and Restraint in Society

Seclusion and restraint were once perceived as therapeutic practices in the treatment of people with mental and/or substance use disorders. Throughout history, the mistreatment of others has been inhumane, numbing our collective sense of empathy and letting complacency thrive where compassion once belonged.

In our current hyper-individualized society, many are experiencing profound isolation and seclusion unlike anything we've seen before. Despite being told we live in a "globally connected" world, this connection is often fragmented, divided by class, age, and other barriers that prevent authentic, cohesive communities from forming. We are disconnected from the roots of community, where support, shared wisdom, and collective growth should naturally flourish.

Moreover, the over-reliance on strong, mind-altering prescriptions—often normalized in modern society—acts as its own form of restraint. These medications numb our intuition and distance us from present-moment awareness. The systemic design of coercive control, from rigid schooling structures to a lifetime of desk-bound work, stifles creativity, free thought, and meaningful human connection. This reflects the “sick care” model of treating symptoms and not the root cause. With discernment, clients can discover their own unique balance of wellness.

Creating a New Path Forward

I acknowledge the inherent right of all humans to forge a new path forward—just as a river carves a new course, reshaping the landscape with a powerful shift in current. It is up to us to create this new path—one that leads to freedom, authentic connection, and the reclamation of true sovereignty.

Becoming a parent is one of the most profound rites of passage, but it is also one of the most challenging. In a world where traditional wisdom is often lost, many young people feel uninformed. New couples and parents feel isolated and unsure of how to navigate the complexities of raising children. Over the last few decades, our society has become deeply segregated. Divorce rates wreaked havoc on our childhoods and we saw a decrease in the healthy community dynamics needed to truly support children. This is shifting—it has to for us to thrive as humans.

Parenting choices—from discipline styles and vaccine schedules to sleep training and alternative medicine—can be overwhelming and divisive. There are so many decisions that carry long-term implications, and it's easy to feel like you're facing them alone. Or maybe you don’t even know what to discuss with your new partner as you become more committed. This is a place to start. These mentoring sessions are designed to bridge the gap, offering guidance from an elder who has walked the path, helping you navigate the hidden challenges that come with raising a child.

We’re not doing things the way the previous generations did. Many of the approaches and practices we grew up with are no longer seen as the most effective or healthy for today’s families. This journey brings up questions and concerns around everything from sensory awareness and schooling impacts to birth and feeding options. It can be hard to talk about these topics openly without feeling judged or misunderstood. That’s why it’s important to have a safe space where you can explore these issues without fear of judgment. As your mentor, I’ll help facilitate honest, open conversations, allowing you to build your unique parenting approach grounded in respect, mindfulness, and a deep connection with your current or future children.

Parenting used to be a communal experience, supported by the wisdom of a village of elders, and collaborative child-rearing. In some cultures it still is! We can cultivate that here. Although right now that support is often absent, you do not need to face this journey alone. We will re-establish what the village can be: a peaceful, supportive space where you are guided by experience and compassion, not by outdated rules or rigid structures. Together, we’ll explore a new paradigm of parenting—one that goes beyond reward and punishment, focusing on connection, mutual respect, and understanding.
